For μή instead of οὐ, after οἶμαι, cf. i.2.41; after ὑποπτεύειν, An. ii.3.13 GMT. 685 fin.; H. 1024.—τὸν ἀσεβὲς κτλ.: the rest of the section is an expansion of the idea περὶ θεοὺς σωφρονεῖν. Note the significant change in tense from εἰπόντα and πράξαντα to λέγοντα and πράττοντα. οἷα: obj. of λέγων and πράττων. For the cond. force of these participles, see on i.1.5.
