[794] 794-803 = 16.36-45. Many critics, from P. Knight and Heyne on, have urged that the lines are interpolated here; they lose all their grace in the other passage if, instead of coming from Patroklos' own chivalrous thought, they are merely repeated by rote like a lesson. P. Knight includes also 792-3, as coming from 15.403-4.
