[334] ἐγχρίμψας, trans. as in the other famous locus classicus on the chariot race, Soph. El. 721 “ἔχριμπτ᾽ ἀεὶ σύριγγα”. The verb implies only bringing near, and does not involve, though of course it is consistent with, the idea of actual contact.
