[105] Notice the hiatus at the end of the first foot here and 107; there are no less than fifteen cases after “αὐτὰρ ” in this place (van L. Ench. p. 78). These two may be written “ ϝ᾽” (Brandreth), and so 3.379, 21.33, with “ϝ᾽” for “ϝοι”. In the other eleven cases we can write “ γ᾽” or “ὃς” (Brandreth), or admit that the hiatus was allowable after “”, which cannot be elided. The MS. tradition is strongly in favour of the latter choice.
