[708] πέρθαι, a non-thematic aor. for “πέρθ-σ-σθαι”, related to “ἔπερσα” as “δέχθαι” to “ἐδεξάμην, ὄρθαι” to “ὦρσα”; see H. G. § 40. The variant “πέρσαι” is also possible; it is not fated for thee to sack etc. Van L. would read “Τρώων πέρθεσθ᾽”, needlessly (Ench. § 211. 9).
