[451] We have to suppose that the further part of the course is entirely hidden from the spectators by irregularities in the surface of the plain, though it is described as “λεῖον” in 359. When last the competitors were seen on their way to the turn Eumelos was in front. Idomeneus from a place of outlook can see further than the rest, but not so far as the turn.
