[346] τούσδε, if the reading were right, would shew that Thersites is aimed at, not, as some commentators have thought, Achilles and Patroklos, for it must indicate some who are present. But we must read with P. Knight “τοὺς δ᾽ ἔαε” (cf. on 165), and then the reference is clearly to Achilles and his friends; Thersites cannot be said to take counsel “νόσφιν Ἀχαιῶν”.
