[599] ἐυστρόφωι, so all MSS., as in 716: in 15.463 and Od. the form “ἐυστρεφής” is certain, and on this analogy Ar. read “ἐυστρεφεῖ” both times in this book. But the double stem is familiar enough; “ἐυεργής” and “ἐύεργος” coexist (though in different senses), “ἐυπλεκής” and “ἐύπλεκτος, ἐυρρεής” and “ἐύρροος”. Cf. also nom. “δίπτυχος”, dat. “δίπτυχι, ἐρίηρος”, pl. “ἐρίηρες”. There is, therefore, no good reason for rejecting the tradition.
