[35] For similar expressions v. 22.347, 24.212, and the words of Xenophon to his soldiers, Anab. iv. 8. 14τούτους, ἤν πως δυνώμεθα, καὶ ὠμοὺς δεῖ καταφαγεῖν” (and Hist. iii. 3. 6). βεβρώθοις seems to be a perf. in “-θα” like “ἐγρηγόρθασι”, v.H. G. § 22 (10), and note on (9). The more usual form “βεβρωκώς” is found in 22.94, Od. 22.403, where it may have supplanted the rarer “βεβρωθώς”.
