ἀπώμος᾿, ‘I swear, ‘No’’ (like “ἀπόφημι”, ‘I say ‘No,’’ O. C. 317): Ar. Eq. 424“τοὺς θεοὺς ἀπώμνυν”. For the aor., cp. 1314: Ai. 536“ἐπήνες᾿”: ib. 693 “ἔφριξ̓”: El. 668“ἐδεξάμην”: Eur. Hec. 1276“ἀπέπτυς᾿.” ἁγνοῦ: cp. Suppl. 652 “Ζηνὸς ἵκτορας ἁγνοῦ”. The fact that “ἁγνόν” is oft. an epithet of “σέβας” (as in O. T. 830) is no adequate reason for writing ἁγνὸν … ὑψίστου here.
