πάσχειν denotes the continuance of the sufferings: παθεῖν, the sum of those sufferings, regarded as a doom. So “δράσαντι παθεῖν” ( Aesch. Ch. 313). Cp. 95 “ἐξαμαρτεῖν...νικᾶν.” δεῖ: cp. 1339 n.
