φάρμακον, ‘corrective,’ “τὴν μάστιγα”. Cp. O.C. 714 “ἵπποισιν τὸν ἀκεστῆρα χαλινόν”. So the bit for Pegasus, given by Athena to Bellerophon, is “φίλτρον τόδ᾽ ἵππειον” ( Pind. O. 13. 68), “φάρμακον πραυ?” (ib. 85). νοῦν κατακτήσει: cp. Plat. Rep. 591B (“ἡ ψυχὴ”) “σωφροσύνην.. κτωμένη”. So “κτῆμα” is said of moral or mental attributes (O.T. 549, Ant. 1050). τινά, ironical, some small measure of it.
