ἀπορρεῖ, like water that runs off; cp. Ai. 523ἀπορρεῖ μνῆστις”: Verg. Aen. 2. 169Ex illo fluere ac retro sublapsa referri | Spes Danaum.

κἀπὶ μηδὲν ἔρχεται: so fr. 788. 8 (the waning moon) “πάλιν διαρρεῖ κἀπὶ μηδὲν ἔρχεται”. More often the art. is added, as in Eur. Hec. 622ὡς ἐς τὸ μηδὲν ἥκομεν”.
