πρῶτα μὲνεἶταἔπειτα (266). The influence of the relat. pronoun is confined to the first clause, as in O. C. 632 ff.: “ὅτῳ πρῶτον μὲν...ἔπειτα δ᾽ ἱκέτης κ.τ.λ.

τὰ μητρὸς is not a mere synonym for “ μήτηρ”, but rather denotes her mother's relations with her: O. C. 268τὰ μητρὸς καὶ πατρός.

ἔχθιστα συμβέβηκεν, have come to be such. This verb, though often joined with the participles of “εἰμί” and “γίγνομαι”, is rarely construed with a simple adj.: cp. however Plat. Rep. 329Dνεότης χαλεπὴ τῷ τοιούτῳ ξυμβαίνει”.
