τὸ κόσμιον. Hurried movement in public was contrary to Athenian notions of “εὐκοσμία”. Cp. Charmides p. 159 B “εἶπεν ὅτι οἱ δοκοῖ σωφροσύνη εἶναι τὸ κοσμίως πάντα ποιεῖν καὶ ἡσυχῇ, ἔν τε ταῖς ὁδοῖς βαδίζειν καὶ διαλέγεσθαι”.
