εἴτ᾽ οὖν … εἴτε: cp. 199 n. We supply “ἔκτεινας”: cp. Aesch. Eum. 468“σὺ δ̓, εἰ δικαίως εἴτε μή, κρῖνον δίκην”, where “ἔκτεινα” is understood from v. 463. λέξω: the fut. here implies the sense of a task from which the speaker will not shrink; ‘I have to tell thee’;—as elsewhere the fut. bespeaks indulgence for a request: O.T. 1446 “προστρέψομαι”: Ai. 825“αἰτήσομαι”. The conjecture δείξω seems unnecessary.
