τῶν θεοδμήτων, an epithet bestowed on Athens by Eur. also (I. T. 1449, Hipp. 974), recalls the legends of Cecrops, Athena, Poseidon; as in Il. 8. 519 the same epithet is given to the Trojan “πύργοι” built by Apollo, and in Pind. O. 6. 59 to Delos, the island which Zeus called forth from the deep.
