καὶ μάντις: ‘and, though so good a prophet, (yet) thou wast deceived so long?’ The interrogative “καί” (928, 1046) is here nearly=“κᾆτα”. The antithesis between “μάντις” and “ἐσφάλλου” makes this better than to take “καί” as=‘also’ (‘so good a seer too, and yet deceived so long?’). Others take “καὶ” as=“καίπερ”, with “ὤν”.
