πόθεν, ‘from what motive?’: ἀντὶ τοῦ, ‘in gratitude for what?’

ἂνπαρέσχ̓: (if he had shown kindness,— as he did not), why would he have done so?

ἧςὕπερ, on account of whom,=“ἧς ἕνεκα”, or “δἰ ἥν”: cp. Ant.932βραδυτῆτος ὕπερ”.
