ξυντρέχει: schol. “τίνι θανάτῳ συνέπεσεν” (cp. O. T.113τῷδε συμπίπτει φόνῳ”). The verb is, in fact, a bold poetical substitute for “συμπίπτει”, expressing the notion of ‘suddenly encountering’ a violent death. Cp. the Homeric “συνέδραμον”, said of combatants ( Il.16. 337).
