προσέδρου, “περικεχυμένης”: the cloud hung around him.

λιγνύος, the smoky flame from the resinous “πεύκη” (766),—just as in Ant.1126στέροψ λιγνύς” refers to pine-torches.

διάστροφον, with the frenzy of pain: cp. Eur. H. F.932ἐν στροφαῖσιν ὀμμάτων ἐφθαρμένος.—στρατῷ”: though the crowd must have been partly composed of warriors (259), “στρατός” has here the general sense of “λεώς” (783): cp. Soph. Ant.8 n.: Soph. El.749.
