ἀλλ̓, “"nay"”; cp. 237. In ἐξυφηγοῦ (only here), “ἐκ” refers to the moment of starting, while “ὑπό”=“"onward,"” as in “ὑπάγω”. ἔχων ἔχει, cp. our phrase, “"the biter bitten."” Aesch. Ag. 340 “οὔ τἂν ἑλόντες αὖθις ἀνθαλοῖεν ἄν”. Hor. Ep. 2. 1. 156 “capta ferum victorem cepit.” Isaiah xiv. 2 “and they shall take them captives, whose captives they were.”
