ἄμβασις, in such a context, needs not to be defined by “πώλων”. For the apocopè, cp. Ant. 1275ἀντρέπων”, n.

οἳ, as if “ἀναβάται” had gone before: cp. Ai. 235ὧν” after “ποίμνην”: Her. 8.128περιέδραμε ὅμιλος,...οἳ” etc. Cp. 942 n. (“αὐτούς” after “πόλιν”).
