τάλας, nom. for voc., as 753: cp. on 185.

ἁβρύνετι, not merely, “"lives softly,"” but “"waxes proud."” In Attic the midd. and pass. “ἁβρύνομαι” seems always to have this further sense, like “καλλύνομαι, λαμπρύνομαι, σεμνύνομαι”: e.g. Plat. Apol. 20 Cἐκαλλυνόμην τε καὶ ἡβρυνόμην ἄν, εἰ ἠπιστάμην ταῦτα”. The act., however, approaches the simpler sense in Aesch. Ag. 918μὴ γυναικὸς ἐν τρόποις ἐμὲ ἅβρυνε”, “"make me luxurious."
