ἀλλ᾽ οὐδ̓ presupposes his refusal, and justifies it: “"Nay, neither did they consider my wishes."” παρίεσαν, “"concede,"” sc. “ἐμοὶ κατελθεῖν”, cp. 570: not “ἐμὲ εἰς τὴν πόλιν”, “"admit"” (in which sense usu. of allowing armies to enter territory, or the like: Eur. Suppl. 468 “Ἄδραστον ἐς γῆν τήνδε μὴ παριέναι”).
