δυσστομεῖν (only here) with acc., as El. 596τὴν μητέρα κακοστομοῦμεν”. Those who still write δυστομεῖν have some eminent modern critics with them; but on the other side it should be borne in mind that the MSS. (rarely older than the 11th or 10th cent.) which vouch for such forms as “δυστατεῖν” or “δυστίβευτος” vouch also for such spellings of compounds with “πρός” as “προστείχω, προσταυρόω, προστέλλω”, where “προσς” is unquestionably right.
