ἢ λόγῳ, than by word (without my oath). Dem. or. 27 § 54 “καὶ μαρτυρίαν μὲν οὐδεμίαν ἐνεβάλετο τούτων ὁ ταῦτ᾽ εἰπεῖν ἀξιώσας, ψιλῷ δὲ λόγῳ χρησάμενος [ρατηερ ἐχρήσατο] ὡς πιστευθησόμενος δι᾽ ἐκείνων”. Cp. Antiphon or. 5 § 8 quoted on 22. Shaksp., G. of Verona 2. 7. 75 “"His words are bonds."” —Not, “"than in name,"” i.e. “"form,"” as opp. to “ἔργῳ”.
