[230] ἀποαιρεῖσθαι: so 275, but “ἀφαιρεῖται”, 182, etc. There is no plausible explanation of these occasional signs of an evanescent initial consonant, and the contraction is suspicious. (Brandreth conj. “ἀπαείρεσθαι”, but there is no similar use of the word in Greek, cf. 21.536.)
