[40] ἐπέρασσε, sold, a verb occurring only in this book of the Iliad (58, 78, 102, 454) and in “ξ” and “ο”. The forms found are the perf. part. (58) and the aor. (“ἐπέρασσα” or “ἐπέρασα” as if from “περάζω”). It is to be distinguished from “περάω” to pass which makes “ἐπέρησα” only; but the two verbs are evidently closely akin, through the sense ‘to make to pass over,’ which is indeed quite admissible here. Cf. “πρί-αμαι” (in “α ξ ο” only) and “πι-πρά-σκω” (not Homeric).
