[505] The μοι long in thesi can hardly be right. Nauck conj. “υἱέα μοι τίμησον”, Menrad “τίμησόν σύ μοι υἱόν”, Platt “τίμησον δή μ᾽”(“οι”) “υἱόν”. For ἄλλων after the superlative cf. 6.295, 23.532, Od. 5.105, Soph. Ant. 100κάλλιστον τῶν προτέρων φάος” (with Jebb's note) Soph. Ant. 1212δυστυχεστάτην κέλευθον ἕρπω τῶν παρελθουσῶν ὁδῶν” , and numerous others. The gen. means ‘doomed to swiftest death as compared with all others’; it is ablatival, and ‘expresses the point from which the higher (here the highest) degree of a quality is separated,’ H. G. § 152.
