[12] στεφάνη seems to be merely one of the numerous synonyms for the helmet; see 10.30ἐπὶ στεφάνην κεφαλῆφιν ἀείρας θήκατο χαλκείην”. It can hardly mean any special part, as here it covers the neck, while in 11.96 it goes over the forehead. There is no archaeological evidence of anything that can be called the ‘brim’ of the helmet.
