[102] πρωτογόνων, apparently firstlings, the first-born of the year, the “πρόγονοι” of Od. 9.221. The word, however, suggests the Hebrew custom of offering the first offspring of every animal. The analogy of “πρωτοπαγεῖς5.194 suggests also the possibility of translating newborn.
