[514] 514 “ἀθετεῖται: προείρηται γὰρ ἱκανῶς διὰ τοῦαὐτὰρ ἐπεί ῥα γόοιο,” καὶ ἀκύρως τέθειται τὸ γυίων: οὐ γὰρ οὕτως λέγει πάντα τὰ μέλη, ἀλλὰ μόνον τὰς χεῖρας καὶ τοὺς πόδας”, The An.athetesis has been generally accepted, as the “γυῖα” cannot be the seat of yearning. That fear should depart from the trembling limbs is natural enough, e.g. Od. 6.140; a rhapsodist probably had some recollection of that passage and interpolated the line from it.
