[459] ἐπεί is to be preferred to “ὅπως”, which is used as a temporal conj. only in the phrase “ὅπως ἴδον” (“ἴδεν”), 12.208, Od. 3.373, Od. 22.22. The change may have been made to avoid the apparent hiatus.
