[566] Ταλαϊονίδαο, son of Talaos. This is one of a number of patronymics formed with a double termination; another case of “-ιων” + “ιδης” is “Ἰαπετιονίδης” (Hes.). Forms like “Πηληϊάδης, Φηρητιάδης”, etc., are quite similar; they contain the suff. “-ιο-” (which itself is capable of being used for a patronymic, as “Τελαμώνιος Αἴας”) + “άδης”: cf. on 1.1. For the double suffix compare “Κορινθ-ια-κό-ς” (Angermann C. St. i. 1). Μηκιστέως, i.e.Μηκιστῆος”. See on 1.489.
