[88] γνώσεαι, you shall know, a mild imper.; as we say ‘you must know.’ The variant “εἴσεαι” may perhaps be defended on the ground that it means ‘thou must know that it is Ag.,’ but “οἶδα” with a personal object is very rare (cf. Od. 6.176 “τῶν δ᾽ ἄλλων οὔ τινα οἶδα,” 20.203 “ἴδμεν τοκῆας,” Od. 19.501 “φράσομαι καὶ εἴσομ᾽ ἑκάστην”: 2.409 “ἤιδεε .. ἀδελφεὸν ὡς ἐπονεῖτο” is of course different', and “γνῶναι” is the regular word for recognition; 1.199 etc.
