[549] οὐκ ἐπιεικτόν (also 5.892, 8.32） commonly explained unyielding, from (“Ϝ”）“είκω”. But Schulze (Q. E. p. 495) has plausibly suggested that “Ϝεικτός” here = Lat. victus, so that the meaning is unconquered. ἕρμα, buttress, as “ἕρματα νηῶν” 1.486, 2.154 (cf. note on 4.117). So Theron is “ἔρεισμ᾽ Ἀκράγαντος” Pindar O. ii. 6; cf. Soph. O. C. 58.
