[583] νόσφιν ἀειράσας, not bringing him into the “μέγαρον”, but taking him to another room. It has been objected that ‘it is not easy to see how Priam, sitting inside the tent, can see what is going on outside, as it is night; so that 583-86 seem to be an untimely repetition of the motive of 568-70’ (Hentze). The simple explanation given above shews how groundless this difficulty is.
