[239] πρὸς Διός, like de par le Roi, by commission of Zeus. Cf. Od. 14.57 “πρὸς γὰρ Διός εἰσι ξεῖνοι”, and 9.99. Or we may take it with “θέμιστας”, laws given by Zeus. ὅρκος is here used in the primitive sense of the object sworn by.
