[313] ἄνωγε is in form an imperf. from “ἀνώγειν”, which is a secondary pres. from the perf. “ἄνωγα”. In use, however, it is an aor. and is so found in the famous Cypriote inscr. from Idalion (Collitz no. 60), “Ἠδαλιέϝες ἄνωγον Ὀνάσιλον κτλ.” A sigmatic aor. occurs in 15.295, Od. 10.531, Scut. Her. 479 (“ἀνῶξαι”). See van L. Ench. p. 468.
