[670] τλήμων, enduring, a variant of Odysseus' regular epithet “πολύτλας”, and so 10.231. The sense wretched is post-Homeric. μαίμησε here evidently indicates violent rushing, as 661; cf. 8.413 “μαίνεται ἦτορ”.
