[200] Ζεφύροιο ἔνδον, like “Διὸς ἔνδον20.13. Zephyros is invariably spoken of as a stormy and dangerous wind in H., except in Od. 4.567, where its coolness is alluded to. It must be admitted that this scene falls below the dignity of its surroundings; there is an unmistakable touch of humour in the party of the winds and their behaviour to the goddess. This may be an intentional relief to the gloom of the funeral, or may possibly betray the hand of an interpolator.
