[529] προβαλόντες, a curious expression with “ἔριδα”, but compare 3.7ἔριδα προφέρονται”. The idea seems to be ‘throwing into the midst’ between the contending armies. The most likely restoration of the Pap. in 529 (530 being omitted) is van L.'s “κοῦροί τε ἱππῆές τε κακὴν ἔριδα προφέρονται”. Writing “<*>κ πλήρους” instead of elision is common enough.
