[687] ἡγήσαιτο, potential opt. after “ὅς τις” without “ἄν”, as 22.348. (Other instances in M. and T. § 241.) ἐπὶ στίχας, into the ranks drawn up for battle. So 20.353 “ἐπὶ στίχας ἆλτο,” 3.113 “ἵππους ἔρυξαν ἐπὶ στίχας”, brought them into line.
