[75] χρεώ with acc. and gen., as 10.43, 11.606. We may supply “γίνεται”, as Od. 4.634, or “ἐστίν”, as 21.323; but the original construction of the acc. is shewn by Od. 5.189ὅτε με χρειὼ τόσον ἵκοι”. See also Eurip. Hec. 976τίς χρεία σ᾽ ἐμοῦ; The form “χρεώ” with synizesis for “χρειώ” may be right in a late passage; it recurs twice each in “Ι, Κ, Λ”, once in “Σ” and once in “Φ”. Of course it is always possible to read “χρή” with P. Knight.
