[25] ἀπόνητο, cf. 11.763Ἀχιλλεὺς οἶος τῆς ἀρετῆς ἀπονήσεται”. ὤνατο, made light of me; a form found here only. It is probably to be regarded as an imperf. of “ὄναμαι”, a by-form of “ὄνομαι”; cf. “ὄναται: ἀτιμάζεται, μέμφεται”, Hesych.; unless indeed we ought to read “ὤνοτο” with Brandreth, or “ὠνόσατ᾽ ἠδ᾽ ὑπέμεινεν” with P. Knight. It would seem that there has been some confusion in form owing to the neighbourhood of the similar but perfectly distinct “ἀπόνητο”.
