This line and the preceding were athetized by Ar. as wrongly inserted from 182-83; Zeus, he thinks, should appeal only to superior force, not to the privilege of seniority, “τὰ τοιαῦτα γὰρ τῶν δεομένων”: while in the mouth of Iris the words are right, as they would offer Poseidon an honourable excuse for yielding.
