[340] 340-2 appear to be a very poor interpolation. ἰχώρ is mentioned again only in 416 in an anomalous form. It is used by Aisch. Ag. 1480 in the sense of ‘blood’ simply; in later writers it means the serum of the animal juices of all sorts, including blood. Thus the appropriation of it to the divine blood, which is not adopted by any later poets, seems due to a mistaken attempt to reconcile 416 with 339 by this interpolation. 342 is a meaningless non sequitur; and with it 341 must be condemned.
