[787] ὔμμ᾽ ἐρέω, the only other places in H. where the “ϝ” of “ϝερέω” is neglected are 4.176 “ὧδ᾽ ἐρέει,” Od. 12.156 “ἀλλ᾽ ἐρέω”. None of the three can be corrected with any probability (“ϝειδόσι πᾶσ᾽ ὔμμιν ϝερέω” Menrad). ἔτι καὶ νῦν, to this day; as they honoured them when they were young, so they continue to honour them when they are old.
