[115] ὀσσόμενος (from “ὄσσομαι” (i.e. “ὀκ”-jo-“μαι”), Curt. Gk. Etym. 407). The first meaning of “ὄσσομαι” is simply ‘to see,’ cp. Od.7. 31; the secondary, ‘to have one's thoughts set on,’ ‘to see in one's mind's eye,’ generally with “θυμός” or “θυμῷ”. Cp. Od.20. 80ὄφρ᾽ Ὀδυσῆα ὀσσομένη καὶ γαῖαν ὕπο στυγερὴν ἀφικοίμην”.
